I wouldn't mind trading down for a lower pick and an establoshed player (ie: Bobby Simmons+#11 to Minnesota for #18+Mike Miller), but I don't want to trade down just to get a late first rounder in a weak draft.

Yeah but really how much seperation is there going to be between a player we can choose at 11 and who we can choose at 18?

Theres really not much, so we could trade, get an additional asset and still get a player who would be as good as who we got at 11.

Clark has all the tools but scares me how inconsistent he was in college.

I agree w/ you, trading down = BAD IDEA.

Neither Clark nor Williams will be available at 16. Getting the 26th pick in a weak draft isn't worth trading back 5 spots and passing on the opportunity to grab one of the 2/ 3 special players who will be on the board at 11 but not at 16.

Love your blog, keep it up!

Stan, thanks for the comment and for following my blog. I hope you have been enjoying it.

As for your questions, I do think it is a bad idea to trade down. With going down the way they have been, we would only be able to get Terrence Williams with the 11th pick. If we would be able to get him at 16 and then Casspi at 26, I would be all for it.

I would like to see the Nets stay put if either Earl Clark or Terrence Williams are available. If not I would like to see us trade down, take Hansboro and Casspi.

We will see what happens though. Thanks again for the comment!

Hey Sebastian,

I've been following your blog for a couple of weeks now and it's really sweet. Question: Do you really think it's a bad idea to trade down from the Clark/Johnson/Blair tier to the Williams/Casspi tier? The way I see, the top couple of guys on our board seem to be Ariza/Millsap type players - solid at the 3/4 spots, but not much more than that. If we can get someone to be a solid role player (Casspi?) at 18 or 23 while picking up an extra pick, why shouldn't we? Do you think that Clark/Johnson/Blair have potential to be more than a serviceable role player in search of a star to play around?
