Yi Looks…Different…In A Good Way

So all-star commenter Manuel posted a link to a picture of Yi playing basketball right now, and it is so impressive that it deserves it’s own post.
Yi right now:

Just looking at him you can tell he is more muscular than he was last year, but to really emphasize it, here is a picture of Yi last year:

The difference is to the point of being ridiculous. Seriously, you could give these pictures to 10 people who don’t watch the NBA and I gurantee you that at least 5 would “no, that is not the same person.”
Couple this with the fact that according to reports he is attacking the basket and settling for jumpers less, I am super pumped to see Yi this year. I was going in with the “wait and see” attitude for Yi this year, but I don’t know, after seeing his stats and then seeing this picture, I am starting to get excited about him. Because imagine if we get the Yi everyone has been waiting for. Add that to Brook, Devin, and Courtney Lee and this team isn’t looking that bad. Not bad at all…

I thought basketball players didn’t take steroids.
I guess they help if you’re a weak big man.

this picture is making my hopes for Yi having a 14 and 7 season look bad . hes no longer going to get killed in the paint and loose the ball with those 4 guys t will and CDR looking good any free agent is going to consider coming here next year.

BAHAHA! “Worked his ass off” you say? Guess who’s going to be in my next book, called “Juiced 3: Other Sports”? Yi is.

@anon & JoseCanseco (funny name) – I don’t think this is steriods. Yi is still a young kid, and adding muscle is a lot easier when you are 21. The kid put in a lot of work this summer…give him his props!
@Manuel – Yes he got bigger, but he needs to adjust the style of his play to become better. We will see if he does that this year.
@kane – I agree with you man! I am pumped for this season…

Yes this looks promising. The nets need a big man who can create for himself. Brook Lopez and Josh Boone score most of their points of easy shots and dunks off assists, or second chance opportunities. If you look at the past 9 champions or so, they all had a big man who could scored by himself (Gasol/Odom, Garnett, Duncan, Shaq, Rasheed Wallace…) Krstic looked alright, but he got injured, and he was much softer than any of the ones I listed above.
But with Yi looking like this, and apperently playing tougher, this should be a good start..
