Never Too Early

For Nets fans who are already dreaming of the summer of 2010, Dime magazine reminds us that there’s more to next year than just the pending free agencies of Lebron James, Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh.

Manu Ginobili, Ray Allen, Carlos Boozer, Shaquillie O’Neal, Tracy McGrady, Marcus Camby, Derek Fisher, and Jermaine O’Neal are also on that list as unrestricted free agents along with who Dime dubbed “the most important free agent nobody is talking about,” SG Joe Johnson.

Is it too early to declare Courtney Lee the SG of the future?

I love Lee's defensive energy and toughness, and I think he can be our stopper this year.

Stay away from Walter Ray

Way to early to say Lee is the SG of the future. Same can be said about Mr Lopez as well at C. These are young men who showed many signs of brilliance last season but that doesn't mean that will grow into more then role players or Anthony Mason type 6th men.

This is why 09-10 is a great season for Nets fans because we get to see what we really have without any type interference. The young guns get to play and get to show us and the FA of 2010 why Mr Thorn thought they were special. For all we know CDR is the SG of the future, or our team has no real "stars".

09-10 needs to play out before we jump at all the pretty looking FA out there next year. But you can't ask for a better chance then what the young guys will get this year, and I think there will be little question of team needs by the end of the 09-10 season.

I have a great amount of faith in Courtney. He faired well against Kobe in the finals, as a rookie, and represents that he has unlimited potential. I would undoubtedly deem him the Sg of the future. If I were Rod Thorn, my top priority would be getting LeBron James, and then if possible another star if say Yi doesn't live upp to the hype (but I think he will). Then sign role players that will deepen the bench, and the Nets will be one of the top contenders in the East, leaving Rod and Kiki as geniuses of the NBA. Did I forget to mention that the Nets also will add to players from the very deep draft of 2010? The future is so bright.

the only free agents that i would want the Nets to go for on that second list are boozer, ginobli, and Joe Johnson. and yes it is way too early to consider Lee our starting SG of the future dont get me wrong i think hes going to have a great season and be a good player but we need to see him do that to call him the SG of the future.
