Yi Out Indefinitely
by Sebastian Pruiti
Yahoo sports has the story:
The New Jersey Nets say an MRI performed on forward Yi Jianlian confirmed that he has sprained a ligament in his right knee.
The Nets said Tuesday that Yi will begin rehabilitation immediately and there is no timetable for his return.
Get used to Bobby Simmons at the 4. It is probably the worst experiment in professional sports right now, but Lawrence Frank seems commited not to play Brook Lopez and Sean Williams at the same time. Match-up problems it creates be damned!
The other direction Frank might go is starting Eduardo Najera. He hinted at the possibility in practice today.

Manuel, don’t even bring up the Mets here. You just hope that Devin can play through pain a little bit here and can maybe get back by next Wednesday’s game against Philly. With the way the schedule was desiged, this stretch was going to be brutal anyway. You just hope they can have enough time together to start the gel.

“Manuel, don’t even bring up the Mets here.”
I’m also a Mets fan. And, yes, this feels very much like a continuation of that disaster.
JOHN WALL! COME TO PAPA!

How does the adversely affect Brook’s growth?

That is a good question TRC, I am actually going to address it in the future, but it gives you another defender that can leave his man and double Brook. That is more output than growth. You could argue that this can help him grow because now he will learn how to handle doubles because of all the game experience he is getting.

I know this is old by now, and we’re seeing it as I type this, but Brook is going to face more bodies down low. Because we know very well that Boone isn’t going to step in for Yi, their games are nothing alike. (I’m a UConn alum and appreciate Josh, but he hasn’t grown since his second season.)
