Alas....GSW has some religious commitment to concepts proven to NOT work. That's what happens if the coach's True Religion is his precious system, all about HIS method and players are just meat.

How hard is it to play D based on concepts that at least work for a low end college team? The Warriors emphasis is on exploiting mistakes, but not on forcing mistakes and so GSW can abuse a sloppy team but can easily be had by a team that's sensible even if short on talent.
GSW has the parts to be above .500 but the whole "concept" is like dragging dead weight up a mountain for no reason. A whole lot of talent and effort is wasted again and again.

There is no justification for it.
Players have to follow the "plan" and then when the "plan" is a liability...the players get the blame.

Winners do it different.

Just saying the "Warriors don't play defense" or whatever misses the point of this post. Sebastian very astutely uses visuals to illustrate his point, rather than just definitive statements about a team. Besides, as is pointed out in our next post, the Nets have a hard time defending the pick and roll, which is something the Bucks used extensively against the Warrriors, who clearly have deficiencies there as well.

r u serious. you are pointing out that the warriors players are playing defense incorrectly. That is like saying 110 degrees is hot outside. Of course they don't guard correctly - THEY ARE THE WARRIORS!

From my experiences, it all depends on getting both guys on the right page. Because if Ellis is going over the screen, then Moore needs to hedge harder at him.

If they were playing to go under the screen, I still think Moore was way too far back. He's a good 10 feet behind where the screen is getting set.

Mikki Moore is opening up to let the guard go under the screen in every instance there. It's when the guard goes over the top of the screen that Jennings is getting his shots. If you're trying to force Jennings in to contested jumpers, then going over the top is the wrong strategy.

Nice analysis. Jennings was extremely impressive in how he picked apart the Warriors, but their defensive strategy was flawed to begin with.

Problem is... the Nets are coming off a back-to-back, and Rafer isn't the most focused defender all the time. I think Jennings is going to have another big night. Not 55 or anything, but... High 20s? Sure.
