Brook would have been nce but lets face it, that team might have needed time to bond but I don't think harris carter and jefferson were a good fit together. I don't see Brook haing that big an impace either I thin if RJ stayed he'd be takng too many shots and Devin wouldn't have shown us what he did last year. Vince is 32 and RJ's game has been decling the last two seasons ene with Lopez I see second round exit max. Now if the Lopez was there during the Kidd era. Thats the dream a finisher like Lopez with a passer like Kidd sigh

@ Kailin

Well you never know, all those Kidd teams needed was that big man they so desperately needed. And Brook was that guy, only he came 1 year too late. Maybe if we don't trade RJ and VC, the Harris-VC-RJ-Lopez team could've been something and completely changed the history of nets basketball. Ah, the tantalizing what ifs of the nba.

And we still might have been players in the 2011 free agent pool with RJ's contract expiring and VC's unguaranteed expiring contract we could dangle. And Terrence Williams wouldn't be that big of a loss to me. We could've gotten DeJuan Blair instead. Wow, I never thought of that.

Let's say The RJ and VC trades never happen. We have Lopez, RJ, VC, and Harris as our stars. We played better than we did last year. Got a lower pick in the draft. And we take Blair. Lopez-Blair-RJ-VC-Harris does not sound bad to me at all.

Mark - I approve of jettisoning RJ, Kidd, and Vince. What's the point in being a .500 team with players who are on the downside of their career? You have no money to sign a quality player and you'll never be high enough in the draft to have a good enough chance to acquire a core player. They've been in a no-man's land for years. I'd rather seem them rebuild the team into hopefully a true contender by improving their chances to acquire a franchise player.

Their confidence is a huge issue right now. They need to play with most desperation and aggressiveness for 4 quarters. Right now they become discouraged once things aren't working out for them.

The mini-run they made in the 3rd last night is an example. After the Jazz responded the Nets appeared to give up.

I have also observed some problems from the first game with the cohesiveness of this group from a trust standpoint. What's bothered me is the body language of Alston and now some of the younger players. It jumps out at you when you see the games live. In the home opener I saw Alston act disgusted by T-Will's miscues. This team needs to rally around each other - and they can't fall into the trap of trying to do it alone. I give credit to Devin who has apparently made some steps towards bridging that gap. I hope he keeps working on this.

Yes, Courtney lee has definitely not been playing as advertised. Maybe you guys could do a what if post on this- Makes you think, what if we didn't do the jefferson and carter deals? We wouldn't be players in the 2010 free agent pool but we would be a playoff team looking for one more piece instead of praying for wall and lebron, both of which are long shots.

I believe the team misses Dooling and Hayes more than we realize. They are a decent threats from outside. As veterans they could also show how to be a role player that can support Lopez and Harris.

Mark - call me crazy, but I think Brook's progress is irrelevant to Devin, in only that the Nets desperately need someone else out on the wings that takes the attention away from Devin AND Brook in the lane (as toasters says above). You can talk to me about the Dwight Howard affect on Courtney Lee's shooting % this season until your blue in the face, but the guy is missing WIDE OPEN jump shots right now and until the Nets get some players on this roster who are going to consistently pop shots in the corner like they did lat year, Devin is not even going to get the chance to coexist in any fundamental way with Brook.

Now that it seems that Brook Lopez is our number one option, the question I posed to Sebastian before the season started becomes sort of relevant. How does Brook and Devin play together and can Devin defer and not be the number one offensive option? It doesn't help Brook at all that he doesn't have any shooters to spread the floor for him to make opponents pay for double teams.

It's nearly impossible to win when nobody --and I mean nobody-- on the team can reliably hit a shot from more than 12 feet out. If the Nets could shoot at all, the defenses would have to spread and the lanes would open up for Harris and Lopez would get the ball more often.

This is an ill-designed team: they have Harris and CD-R, who can drive, so they get Lee and TWill to give them 4 of those guys, and trade away Carter and Anderson, leaving them with 0 shooters while Yi's hurt.
