Amar’e To The Nets? Before The Offseason?

We heard after the Nets’ game in Phoenix that Amar’e liked the Nets’ potential:

“There are some teams you may say, ‘no way,’ ” said the 6-foot-10 Stoudemire, who scored 27 points in the Suns’ 118-94 win that dropped the Nets to 3-38 at the season’s halfway point. “I don’t think the Nets are one of them.”

Well now we are hearing that the feeling may be mutual.  Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting the Suns, who will most likely be unable to work a deal with Stoudemire before the deadline, are looking to trade the All-Star.  Wojnarowski wrote & tweeted about the news today:

Add Detroit to list of teams — including Chicago, Miami, Phily, NJ — with interest in doing a deal for Amar’e Stoudemire, sources say.

From what I am reading, any deal has to include Amar’e signing an extension.  Is this the right move for the Nets to make?  While he isn’t my favorite selection at the PF spot (I like Bosh and Lee a bit better), Amar’e could fit with the Nets.  He makes the frontcourt defense (an area where the Nets have really been struggling) a lot better and will take attention away from Brook on the other end.  This trade will also make the Nets more attractive to any free agents.  The Nets should have enough cap space to sign close to 2 max contracts, so this trade for Stoudemire doesn’t mean the Nets will be sitting still during the offseason.

So who or what will the Nets have to trade to make this happen?  It most likely won’t be Devin Harris as the Suns are set at point guard.  My guess would be that it would be an expiring contract or two and some draft picks (Probably the Mavs’ first rounder this year and a second rounder or two).  Pay attention guys, we might be seeing some changes with the roster.

Who? Oh! I ws under the impression we only were allowed four men on defense and the power forward was just let open.

I don't hate the Amare deal, I like it a in part. I doubt Chris Bosh comes here, I also think Chris is overrated a little but no doubt he's the best PF available and would complement Brook very well. David Lee would interest me too though the advantage of getting him is not only he is a little younger than Amare maybe a year or two which doens't mean much. But he could come between 8-10 million which leaves a lot more cap space free to make runs at other or resigning players in a few years. He also might be a better fit on this team than Amare.

Hey Amare is not my first choice,Bosh is but he's not comming to NJ.Someone said that Amare can't play defense,so what do you think about Yi?

I'm against acquiring Amare. You can't give max money to a guy who doesn't play D.

Amare is a diva and would not fit in with B.Lopez and future home in Brooklyn. He never be able to handle Brooklyn. Now offering D.Lee a $8M to start five yweear no trade contract would be ideal along with having K.Humphries. Amare never could win with Nash, Shaq and or Hill. Hmmmm. Trade Yi and a future pick for a top seven this years draft and grab also C.Aldrich/C Kansas.
Why?
2010
PF/D.Lee-K.Humphries
C/B.Lopez-C.Aldrich

With Our Pick
Draft J.Wall/Kentucky
Trade C.Lee and a future pick for a top five pick in 2010
Draft E.Turner/Ohio State
Trade Dallas pick and future pick for a top five pick move up in the 2010 draft.
Draft W.Johnson/Syracuse

We are now on our way to success in Brooklyn.

Hey Dee are you joking, calling Yi untouchable,Yi must be your relative!

Suns got to be brain dead to take Yi.I guest a sucker is born every trading deadline!

If Devin aint included, you guys would most certainly have to include Bobby Simmons' expiring contract for salary cap reasons.

Here is a logical possibility that works salary-wise

Da Suns receive: Simmons, Yi, T-Will

Da Nets receive: Amare

On a sidenote, EA Sports is putting out a remake for NBA Jam & you can vote for who will represent the Nets this week. The link is here: http://nba-jam.easports.com/home.action

How about?

Nets give: Bobby Simmons and Yi and any first rounder

Nets get: Amare

Why trade CDR? He has shown more potential than Lee and makes a lot less.

Amare wants a max deal?
This sounds nice but is he a leader?
Is he willing to be a beast inside or just run around shooting jumpers and slashing to the rim like a SF?
Brook needs a Charles Oakley!
Imagine Dejuan Blair instead of TWill. He has 2 20 rebound games this year.
Brook also has to stop being so nicey nice but I don't think Amare is the answer on defense

yea i would trade CDR or Lee in a heartbeat. along with simmon's huge contract and a couple of future draft picks..

I say Harris, Yi and Lopez are untouchable..

At this point i think stromile swift would be a welcome addition to the team

How bout CDR, Yi Jianlin, and our dallas pick for AMare. WOuld they take that?

I see 1) the Suns asking for Yi and 2) him being really good there with Nash but definitely a deal to do nonetheless.

I think trading for Amare' would be a great for us because I just don't think Bosh is going to come to NJ regardless of the money or any pending turnaround this team exhibits from now until the end of the season. However I think we will have to include either a CDR or Lee to the deal. I think the Suns are interested in some young talent in addition to cap relief and draft picks. Given how CDR's been playing recently and his body language, it just doesn't look like he wants to play here anymore.
