Quick Recap: Boston Celtics 96, New Jersey Nets 104

After the Celtics exploded to a 12-2 lead, the game appeared to be over.  However, the Nets took control from that moment forward and came away with a 104-96 win against the Boston Celtics (things got real hairy late).

  • Courtney Lee put together his second straight 20+ point performance (first time as a Net) and played very well until he went out with an ankle injury.
  • In addition to Courtney’s 21, Brook Lopez chipped in 25, and Devin Harris put up 23.  This is the second straight time they all put up 20+.
  • Kris Humphries only had 11 points, but he pulled in 10 rebounds and left Marv saying “This is his best game as a Net.”
  • The Celtics got the Nets’ lead to 6 points when Ray Allen was given a wide open three.  He missed it, and the Nets were able to pull away.
  • Keyon Dooling put in 11 points as well, including 3 threes (including a very timely one in the fourth).
  • In the third quarter, the Nets took two charges on Celtics’ fast breaks.
  • CDR played a meaningful 27 minutes tonight, and maybe put this whole CDR-gate stuff to rest.  He didn’t score a ton, but after Lee left the game, he played very good defense on Ray Allen.
  • The only Net who had a poor game was Yi.  In the fourth quarter he had a turnover and a missed shot, quickly getting pulled in favor of Kris Humphries.

Jesse I totaly agree it's disrespectful to fans and more importantly the players who played a great game. This is the second game in a row the nets won after having a day off, coincidence? I think not

Loving the win. But what really annoys me is how all the media is talking about how the Celtics are "bored." Why can't they just give the Nets credit for playing really well and getting the win?

Suck it KG, way to claim that the Celts are "hungrier" than the Cavs and back it up...

James, it looked like the Nets preferred to just run the pick and roll with Brook instead of posting him up late. I'm not a big fan of changing up your offense when its working but Devin and Brook were attracting so much attention on the pick and roll that it almost always led to an open shot or a free throw.
Great game for the Nets. I loved Courtney Lee's aggression. I hope the ankle is fine because he was playing great. He abused the bigger Celtic defenders and his pull up J was really working for him. Hope the Nets can carry this over.

interestingly, i felt like the turning point of the game was early in the first quarter when rondo was called for a clear path (even though it looked like rondo's shoulder was ahead of harris' shoulder). Rondo got frustrated and fouled harris again within seconds and headed to the bench with 7+ minutes left..

the Nets used a couple of lucky plays at the end to hold on to their previously 18 point lead...I thought they did not handle the pressure defense well...also let KG scored a few easy baskets and gave up a few offensive rebounds the last few minutes.

but a victory is a victory at this point for the nets

yea, Yi was 2-12 but it didn't feel like SUCH a terrible game for him because many of missed shots are from missed tips at the offensive glass

This Yi experiment is just getting absolutely even more absurd. They managed to win DESPITE his 2-12, although he did get 10 boards, i suppose...

Best win of the year so far? Has to be. Great effort by the Nets!

VICTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!! 4 more not to be infamous. Kris Humphries has been great for the Nets since they got him. Brook like usual another great game. 25 is good but he was stuck at 23 in the fourth for awhile. I couldnt watch the game YES blocked it out. Were they not passing to him or was he just getting covered.
