Quick Recap: Washington Wizards 89, New Jersey Nets 85

Similar to last Sunday against the Grizzlies, the Nets saw a double-digit first half lead evaporate as they went ice cold in the second half, falling to the Washington Wizards 89-85 at the Izod Center.

  • The Nets have 50 first half points, but only 35 in the second, and ended up shooting 35 percent for the game.
  • Yi Jianlian had a career high (and team season high) 19 rebounds, to go along with 20 points, but he was torched all evening by Andray Blatche (36 points), and Randy Foye (16 points) hit back-to-back jumpers over Yi in the final minute to ice the game for the Wizards.
  • 16 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks for Brook Lopez, but only two of those points in the second half. Feel like a broken record writing that.
  • Devin Harris finished with 18 points and 14 assists, but was brutal shooting-wise, going 7-24 from the floor, including 1-5 from three.
  • A solid 15 minutes off the bench for Terrence Williams, who finished with 11 points.
  • Jarvis Hayes looked out of sync in his first game back from injury, going 0-4 from the field and not scoring a point.
  • This was the 9th consecutive loss at home for the Nets.

I don't see anyone on the team being selfish. We don't really have great passers but no one is clearly out for themselves, which is interesting considering the situation we're in. Humphries and Yi are dumb sometimes but they aren't terrible. I don't see how you could say Courtney Lee is selfish. He basically only scores in the flow of the offense.
It's not the players fault that the coaches would rather not go to Brook late in the game (don't forget he gets doubled hard and fouled so 20+ shots is completely unrealistic).

@Amari, I don't think 19 rebounds fell in Yi's lap. I've been noticing that every play he gets under the hoop the at least try to get the rebound, so they didn't ''fell'' in his lap.

And I must agree that some of our players are REALLY selfish, that includes Courtney Lee, at least he didn't play today. Our PG's cant make the pass fast enough to open guys. And yes, pass the ball to Lopez. He should be taking 20+ shots each game.

Yi's rebounds dont matter when he misses the putback layups from point blank range. Also devin has to learn that hes not a good shooter cause the continued missed wide open jumpers killed us. Not that this is new but Kiki is an idiot. GIVE THE BALL TO LOPEZ. That is how we have to play but I guess thats not important late in games and most of the substitutions were really puzzling. Start of the 4th we had just given up the lead and Kiki puts Dooling, CDR, Hayes, Hassell and Hump on the floor. Where are you gonna get any offense from that group?? Then leaving CDR and Hassell in way too much and taking Dooling out at the worst times. How can one coach continue to screw these things up and not change a thing?

Can't say I'm surprised we didn't execute down the stretch when Trenton Hassell is on the floor with TWill. How are you gonna break a zone with Devin, Hassell, and Williams as your shooters?
Also gotta say, Yi's missed free throws down the stretch were brutal. I don't expect him to be perfect but he missed a couple in the clutch that really hurt our momentum.

Yi hands are made out of Lotion SMH, his gaudy numbers mean nothing the rebounds fell in his lap, he can't finish around the rim when necessary or play a lick of defense, where is Josh Boone Kiki, where was Dooling down the stretch SMH.

what has been 10 games that we had in our grasps? toughest loss since the hornet game in my opinion

I wish someone could tell me why I give up 2.5 hours of my days to watch the Nets lose.
