Watching this team play is extremely depressing. CDR needs to stop point shaving, hassel needs to watch from the bench, and Yi needs to go play 21 with Sean Williams and Marbury. Harris, Lee, Twill, Hump, Lopez, Dooling, Cdr /Hayes and Boone can get you four more wins. Heck I'd even throw Quin in there to hit a few three's. Yi's motor is too low. He needs a coach thats gonna, yell at him and hold him accountable. Otherwise he will continue to waste space and make funny faces everytime he makes the same bone headed plays.

The Nets actually played a decent game despite the bad coaching by KiKi.
Brook played good D on Howard.
You can just tell Orlando has a real coach
The Nets don't.

The Barnes thing: I think Yi might have been told to shade over to help Brook with Dwight. That makes sense as you are okay with the Magic's least talented offensive starter taking threes, long jumpers etc. But in typical Yi fashion, he shaded over too much and Barnes was able to get uncontested layups. And once he got going, his threes started to fall. I honestly can't explain why they keep giving Yi so many chances. Even at his best this season, he was only scoring. He never passes well, is one of the worst defenders I have ever seen, and has little on-court intelligence. You know how they say some players have just a knack for being in the right place at the right time? (Jeter in baseball, Kidd/Nash in basketball, etc) Yi is the opposite. He always seems the find the spot on the floor where he can positively impact the team in the least way. I don't know how Yi isn't riding the bench for days.

Nice article.

VC being in decline shouldn't blow your mind though. We saw a lot of that in the last couple seasons of him. He doesn't have the same burst turning the corner anymore. As far as Yi goes, how long do you think the Nets keep "developing" him? At some point you'd have to think they are souring on him. Watching him makes me not want to watch basketball

Vc really lets the game come to him in orlando (which isn't good considering "his talent"). Trenton hassel wanted to act like he has Kobe in the beginning of the third quarter. If it really is a youth movement then start Twill. If Yi has gotten this much to do almost nothing, then Twill deserves his chance.
