Quick Recap: Philadelphia Sixers 108, New Jersey Nets 97

In a battle of two of the worst teams in basketball, the Nets showed they are the biggest losers, falling to the Philadelphia Sixers on the road 108-97.

  • The Sixers had lost five in a row before tonight, and had never swept a season series from the Nets. But the Nets were more than willing to make winners out of Philly, playing lackluster defense most of the game and allowing one of the worst teams in basketball to score 108 points and shoot 56 percent from the floor. Seven Philly players scored in double digits, led by Andre Iguodala, who netted 20 points, 8 assists and 4 rebounds.
  • Great comeback game for Chris Douglas-Roberts, who scored 23 points on 9-15 shooting.
  • Terrence Williams, in a surprise start had a shaky game, scoring 13, but going 4-16 from the field.
  • Brook Lopez’s tough March continued as he scored 12 points on 2-9 shooting. He also grabbed 5 rebounds and seems to be losing his temper more than usual out there.
  • The Nets were shockingly accurate from the charity stripe, going 23-24 on free throws.
  • The Sixers outscored the Nets 52-34 in the pain and 22-10 on the fast break.

Oh, and grad school never lets up :(

Four of those games were early; 8 were this year. In the early games he was 3.5 out of 10.5, with 12.0 ppg. So, lower shooting %, but more points due to going to the line more.

BTW, I think I see the opposite pattern in CDR: he seems to do better w/o Devin. His hottest streak of the year (Oct. 31 to Nov. 18, 20.9 ppg, 167 pts from 126 shots) had 7 games w/o Devin and ended the game after his return.

Eh, don't feel like going to bed, so I checked it out myself:

CLee with Devin, 44 games, averages 33.7 mins, 5.1 for 11.3 shooting (0.451), 13.4 ppg.
CLee without Devin, 12 games, averages 32.6 mins, 3.6 for 9.7 shooting (0.371),10.1 ppg.

Seems like a pretty big difference, even with a small sample.

Most of those games without Devin were early right. I mean this is interesting even with the small sample size, but yeah, this is something I think I should look at soon (as soon as grad school lets up). But yeah, the theory makes sense. Devin is really good at drawing defenders...

I'd be interested in the breakdown of how CLee does with and without Devin in the lineup. I'd guess he badly needs Devin there to score, because he doesn't seem to be good at creating his own shot. And Keyon/TWill/Quinn just don't draw the defenders the way Devin does.

Brook's body language is getting REALLY bad.

this just shows how much of an impact harris makes, he may not be the best leader verbally but he leads by example

Don't get your hopes up folks: CD-R is (by my figuring) #10 on Kiki's depth chart. And this is with Hassel demoted below him (if indeed he is). When Devin and The Franchise get back, he'll be strictly mop-up.

CDR kept the score respectable, but poor shooting nights for the starters wasted it.

CDR looked alive for the first time in months. If he can possible return to that agressive streak and provide offense (and a fourth option) with the second unit it could be big in term of avoding infamy. Either way it was nice to see a return to form.
