Daily Link: How About Dirk Nowtizki?

A potential free agent who many people have ignored when playing fantasy basketball is Dirk Nowitzki, but the fact is, he does have a player option that he may not choose to exercise come June 30 if he’s tired of the big-spending Dallas Mavericks having first round exits in the playoffs. Ira Winderman, of NBCSports.com, believes the Nets could be an interesting landing spot for Dirk:

What Nowitzki needs is a youthful, A-List teammate. As a free agent, he could find that in Chicago with Derrick Rose, possibly in New Jersey with a lottery pick, possibly in New York with another A-list free agent, or possibly even in Miami with Dwyane Wade.

I mean, what’s not to love about Dirk in Newark? But, I can’t see any way Mark Cuban lets Dirk leave under any circumstances.

You do know that Dirk has a 21.5 million dollar option on his contract right? Like Charles Barkley said on Friday, "nobody in their Sober mind would turn down 21 million dollars"

No way in hell Dirk would leave for less money. 21 million is a lot and at this stage in his career, though he may be spectacular, no team will pay him more that 10-12 milion a year.

Was just thinking that randy, since yi's best case comparison had been dirk. Too bad dirk is such a long shot.

Could he be used to further develop Yi?

obviously thats 42 and 50% from three

rebuilding process is what i meant

Top coach is guarinteed with Proky methinks (by top I mean somone good with proven nba experiance at least not elite like say Coach K or Phil Jackson). Getting a top 2 pick is really big for us though because it speeds up the draft process a lot. While this is a good draft I think as they go and Cousins or Favors who we porbably take at 3 or 4 will probably be good players it'll take a lot longer to devolp them then Turner or Wall. Personally I'm not sure who I want more Wall is sure to be a star. But I have fallen in love with Turner's game he's a very complete player and his mid range game is excellent, he also seems like a really good guy to have on the team personality wise. I think they both are probable all stars some day and will be happy with either the first of second pick. On the other hand at 4 Wes Johnson might be a better option then one of the power forwards while he's another wings they guys seems fairly solid and has something this team really needs the ability to shoot. He was shooting 50% early in the year before the hand injury and I think he still had an impressive 42% or something for the year hmm

Why do they tease us like this? Remember those 7 or 8 really good games Yi had alongside Brook? Now picture it happening 70 times a season.

But it won't happen unless we get a top 2 pick and a top coach.

Dirk is looking for a championship. He's probably not going to leave unless he finds a situation in which he has a better chance at a championship than what he currently has. Chicago is a good option. ATL, if they lose Joe Johnson, is another option. NJ, sadly, is not an option.

yes yes 3 times yes!
