Daily Link: Nets Still Angling for Chris Paul

According to Mitch Lawrence and the Daily News, the Nets are still trying to trade for New Orleans Hornets’ PG Chris Paul, apparently offering Devin Harris and the #3 pick in the draft to make it happen. But with a new coach coming in and NOLA trying to turn over a new leaf, they reportedly are not interested in trading their lone box office draw in Paul:

“We are not going to move him,” said one team official Monday. “He’s our foundation and is not exactly ‘touchable.’”

I think given all of the Avery Johnson/Devin talk that’s transpired since Johnson has come aboard, it would be interesting to see the Nets just turn around and trade for Paul. It’s the kind of move this team hasn’t made since Kidd for Marbury.

Also, our boy Sebastian is going to be appearing on The Basketball Jones mock draft, streaming live at noon today. Good luck Sebastian. We’re all counting on you.

@Gabe - the article is from this morning's paper.

This was from a over week ago. This is old news.

1 injured lottery pick? I believe we can list CP3 as much more than just an average lottery pick. I would take this in a HEARTBEAT. Brook Lopez can be his next David West, not to mention Collison softens the blow for NO.

If Yi is going to be coming off the bench as predicted, and we trade Harris, who will we blame when we lose? I would not trade #3 pick and Harris for Paul unless I was sure Paul was 100% plus I would want at least a draft pick back from N.O.

I do not want this trade, the #3 pick is potentially too good for someone who has a recently damaged knee, devin is a solid point gaurd

@Mark Wu, Paul's knees scare me, but I still be willing to gamble on him moreso than Devin. But I also don't see a trade like this happening.

I think this report happened a few weeks ago. Rod recently said we're not trading the pick. But also seem higher on the draft than before. Bus besides that if this was recent it would be too late to get CP3 in for a medical beforethe draft and since we know how Rod feels about injuries it obviously wasn't recent.

@Mark What do you think about Paul's knee? A major concern going forward?

That is way too much to give up for 1 player. Maybe Devin and Twill but essentially that's 2 lottery picks for 1 injured lottery pick
