“The Decision” Open Thread

Yeah, we all know what this is about.  LeBron makes his choice in 30 minutes or so, you can talk about it here if you want to.  Please remember the commenter constitution though, thanks guys.

Lebron is with Wade now. No matter what, Wade will always have more titles.

Lebron is a coward. No heart, no character.

Proky called it. Bosh and Wade were tied together and going to the Heat.

Lebron would greatly devalue his brand if he joined them in Miami.

Well guess what? Game over.

The Nets are still on the course, and next year, if they can pick up Carmello, or trade for Paul and get a solid player at the 3. This team may win more titles over the next 5 years than the Heat.

The best part too. Miami has the worst fans in sports. The Marlins won the World Series and could sell out. The Heat did sell out during playoff games during their championship run.

Sayanora Lebron. You just ruined your career and your legacy.

I think Haslem would be a good pick up. Especially if we can get him on the cheap.

its all new?

new coach
new owner
new arena
SAME PLAYERS

we have an okay roster but we need to sign a few guys and maybe make a trade..chris paul still out there?

This will be the standings in the east Coast

Orlando
Miami
Chicago
Boston
Atlanta
Milwaukee
Indiana
Charlotte

TRUST THAT!!!

RJ could not make it with Pop and the Spurs. That means he is fundamentally flawed, do you think Avery will be OK with that...NO. Scola does NOT want to come here, screw him. Thomas will probably be our PF. Favors is 18 years old, everybody knows it takes time with big men. Why all the hate on the guy? It's so typical of fans who are emotional and don't know the game. He has been flashing here and there, he's probably so emotionally overwhelmed right now, does anybody remember when they were 18? Give this kid a break, give him time. A man's body does not fully mature until he's minimum 24 years old. Plus your bones don't completely fuse until then too, look it up. By the time he's 25 he'll probably be close to 6'11" and 270 pounds of solid Dwight Howard muscle with off the chart athleticism. This negativity and doubt is tiresome from so called fans. Bottom line if you have any issues with what the Nets have done you don't know the game, period. Bottom line is nobody wants to be a Net, they are scared. Nobody wants to be a Knick either, they are scared, that's why I admire Amar'e. LeBron showed what fear is, he's afraid of failure so he took the easy way. That's why Kobe and MJ will always be better, the best of the best ever, no fear. Thorn did a good job so far, Proky said too, they will not over pay for players and wind up stuck in a few seasons with no flexibility. These guys are 100% correct and smart. Giving Rudy Gay that contract and Joe Johnson that much money, even DLee 80 mil is crazy. The players that really want to win stayed with their teams for less so they had some room to maneuver not sucked them dry of funds and cap space. We don't need mercenaries here. If you don't want to be a Net, the jokes on you. I really like the players we have just fine. Unload favors....LMAO....y'all are crazy. Read about the trials and tribulations with KG when he was that age, it was tough for him and many young players who were expected to be great from jump street, especially big men. It takes time, even now I see Lopez being owned because he's 22 and needs to improve and he will!!!!

This Net team of ours will be respectable because i believe in the coach..but to walk away and say this has been a good offseason...give me a break..Thorn failed and failed miserably..what plan is this D or E? Travis is a good pickup not a gamebreaker,,but a hard worker, I always liked him. As to PF are we going to overpay for Thomas? We still have Hump maybe he can give us 10 and 10. Favors is our hope for the future, but he looks terrible thus far ( don't be surprised if they unload him)..

from what i see i think these are some of the free agents i think we should pick up now.
josh howard
richard jefferson
udonis haslem
luis scola
hakim warrick
acie law
raymond felton

it would be nice to see rj back on the nets, speaking as a fan of course.

Oh and even though I am heart broken with the Nets summer so far (and how can't you be, with a summer that has been two years in the making) I respect the OKC approach they are taking now. Don't overpay, draft properly, and overall trying to make smart decisions. Let's go Nets!!!

So who besides me thinks Lebron is the biggest coward ever now. Honestly I don't think I would have cared about any other place but to put yourself in Miami is like saying I am not a winner, I need someone else to do it for me. It's like when you were a kid and you got NBA Live and you traded everyone on your favorite team away to establish a super team. Granted they have no one except for those big three but this is the biggest punk move ever. He tarnished his legacy forever. Even if he wins five or six championships he will MOST LIKELY won't be in the discussion for best player ever. I would right off the bat put Jordan, Magic, Kobe, Duncan, Shaq, Bird, (Pippen?) in front of him. He earned nothing.

Great observations, Big Daddy. I agree that selflessness and defense go a long way. Hopefully, our guys will buy into the team philosophy similar to Boston. Unfortunately, I still see us towards the bottom of the conference for next year, but in the high lottery.

On to how the East will play out from current rosters:
Tier 1 - Boston, Orlando, and Miami
Tier 2 - Atlanta, Milwaukee, Chicago
Tier 3 - Charlotte, NY, Philly
Bottom - NJ, Washington, Detroit, Indiana, Toronto, and Cleveland

I like this team the way it is. We just need to add a few pieces and let it happen. Coach will transform this team slowly into what a team should be. Unselfish and accountable for their actions. Like no D and no playee. He'll set the standards high and the players who want it bad enough will do it. The ones who don't we do not want anyway. I still say with the addition of J O'Neal the Celtics are the team to beat in the East and the Magic are a close second. These guys have been playing together for a while and this new team of 3 stars and a bunch of turds are a long way off from being anything. They have NO center, No size and no PG. 7 foot skilled players do not grow on trees. And by the way if you haven't noticed we have one of the better 22 year old 7 foot centers in the league. We also have what I think will be an excellent backup in Zoubek, who will do all the little things right but might not be a scorer, so what he's a backup and 7'1", plus a few other big men with some skills. This team is going to surprise a lot of people.

@jamaal we should not give up damion james he is going to be great he has the size strength and athleticsim hes and he a rebounding machine and great defender i would not trade him

LeBron is a douchebag and Jay-Z is a crappy-ass rapper. I'm so glad they can still be friends.

Oh and Lebrons decicion was fake and gay

We can become Houston Rockets East. Quality players who get the job done.

Thorn needs to immediately trade for CP3. Stick it to LeBron's face and have CP3 tweet that LeBron could have been winning title w/ him in Brooklyn.

Nets get:

CP3
Okafor (only way NOH trade Paul is if Emeka is included)

Hornets get:

Harris
D. James
Lee
Picks, trade exceptions, etc.

Also take Beasley from Miami.

Nets starting lineup:

PG - Chris Paul
SG - T-Will
SF - Outlaw/Beasley
PF - Okafor/Favors
C - Brook Lopez

Nets then go on to beat the Heat in the 2nd round in the Playoffs. LOL. That would be amazing.

Wow what a terrible decision, if he wins he won't get the credit, if he loses he will be ridiculed.
I just don't get it. For a decision that was supposed to be a "business" decision, it just doesn't seem well thought out.

It will be great if they go out in the first round.

good. i'd rather see us build a team than bringing some mercenaries. will be much more satisfying. to see brooke, favors and maybe twill mature and win. outlaw will be an ok piece and overpaying at $7 million means little when you still have tons of cap space. i'd love to see ak-47 come on board. he's underrated.

JDoc, why so much hatorade? LeBron wants to win. He is essentially giving up MVP trophies and alpha-dog status so that he can share. He wants to be like Boston and you have to respect that they're not taking max contracts to work it out. The Heat will be good, but they're not guaranteed to win anything. Don't overreact so sharply.

I'd rather he filled a need for two million less a year.

Lebron is a punk. No heart. No pride. Not a champion. The Heat aren't going to win. And let's face it. Miami, doesn't care about sports.

Dwayne Wade is a chump too. "Welcome my brothers...c'mon."

I can't believe James made that choice. He could have gone down loved like Jordan. Instead, he'll go down more hated than Kobe Bryant, and Kobe got accused of rape.

That's awful decision making.

If the heat and Lakers meet in the final my money in on D-wade

wow. the nba just got way less exciting. It wasn't fun when Celtics completely destroyed in 08. Here we go again.....

As for the Nets, let's be patient, and let the season take us on its ride.

The nets blew free agency. I will be a fan but i wont pay for a ticket like i said unless we trade for real nba talent. Ill gladly watch from home.

@Scrapin-- pass that dutchy over here.

In an unrelated note, Kobe's Jordanesque legacy as just became much more interesting. Second three-peat over the Miami Heat? Good Lord we may have an NBA finals to remember.

Nets will beat the Heat in the playoffs next year. You heard it hear first!

I was really hoping the Nets would improve dramatically this offseason because I like to adopt and follow local teams and I was all set to buy season tickets. I think the team will do better next year (they can't do any worse...) but after striking out with every big name free agent this season I don't see how I can justify getting season tickets. Even getting Boozer would have gotten the Nets into serious playoff contention I think. With their current lineup I'm not so sure.

AK-47....ha ha ha ha...the Nets need a serviceable PF and maybe a backup PG in case TWill can't do it. Then go out and play hard defense and unselfish basketball like Avery Johnson wants them to. Y'all will be surprised at how many games you can win just being fundamentally sound. It's like the sky is falling BS, get real, this team will be great to watch and competitive. Hopefully Harris can get in the gym and make his body stronger so he can stay healthy. If that happens we will win a lot of games. It will take a while for the NBA to realize the Nets are for real. Yes, after they beat them a few times it will be like Oh shoot these guys are serious, I have to bring my A game.

Rod has to make a trade now for Andrei Kirilenko

So next year Amare is going to make more money than Lebron James, talk about overpaying! ;)

David Lee to the Warriors in sign and trade. Is this free agency a disaster for the Nets?

Suddenly the Southeast became the hardest conference in the league.

When they face the Celtics or Lakers who can pretty much shut down anybody defensively after those 3 who can they turn to? Great defensive team will shut down 3 players and it's always someone off the bench or another player that comes through. They will not have any of those types of players. It's 3 and D.

Let's see if the the big 3 and the D-League All Stars can win.

miami just became a cesspool of egos and cap space

Life is a marathon. When you get to a certain point in life you realize that one day is a disaster the next a triumph. So if LeBron doesn't become a Net so what. We have a good core, we have a great coach and a great owner. Lets go for a ride and enjoy the pleasure of watching young players grow and become champions, players we drafted. Outlaw filled a need period, not to be the answer. There is no question, there is no answer, only time and hard work will bring you to the promised land of a championship. There's no magic potion or person who can do it. It's a team sport.

I've excepted we've got no one. If we don't get Lee. No hope for us. I have to think Cleveland just because it would be a really stupid move to leave after this show debacle.

I bumbed about our underwhelming FA. We are legitmatley a rebuilding team but if we stike out overpaying outlaw isn't going to help.

I am cautiously hopeful, anxiously optimistic, and ridiculously excited all wrapped in one.

Who needs him? We have Outlaw!

Welcome to the Clippers, LeBron!
