Nets on the Net: New Players, More Witticisms From Prokhorov

Jordan Farmar on why he picked the Nets over the Lakers: “We talked about it, and it wasn’t really how I wanted to spend my whole career, being a backup in a triangle (offense),” the Nets’ new backup point guard explained yesterday.

Al Iannazzone continues to speculate the Nets options for PF. They include Andrei Kirilenko, Troy Murphy, Kenyon Martin, Brandon Bass and Paul Millsap.

Daily News has part two of their interview with Mikhail Prokhorov. There’s more amusing stuff in there, including this nugget:

Q: Can you play (PF)?

A: Power forward? I’m too old for this. And I don’t like the salary of the players. I can make more in business.

Just wait for the right moment. Look at what the Celtics did.

They kept their high draft picks and affordable and intriguing young talent available. Then they landed Ray Allen and KG, while hanging onto Pierce.

The Nets can do the same thing right now.

Trade Favors, T-Will, and a high pick for CP3, while absorbing Okafor's contract.

Trade Harris and a High pick for Granger.

With that we have our own big 3.

Starting:
Chris Paul, Morrow, Granger, Okafor, Brook.

Reserves:
Farmar, James, Outlaw, Petro, Lee, Sign another big PF and you're set.

That's a championship team, and it's really a possibility thanks to the felxibility Thorn has given us.

Look at the Carter and Kidd trades. Overall there is no way to say Thorn didn't do a good job. While he didn't win a championship, he did make the Nets relevant and make all of us believe we COULD win a championship. Great work by a great man.

Troy Murphy is a beast, let's do it.

I doubt anymore trades or signings will be made unless another teams blows the Nets away. As in CP3.....otherwise this is probably the team we will see start the season. Don't underestimate Prokhorov, for instance why didn't he try to sign this Russian center the Knicks did? He knew about him and he figures he wasn't that good and we already have an all star quality guy in Lopez. We put together a very athletic, active team of very young players all with good character and no issues. They are all very coachable and have one idea, that is to take the nets to a championship, that is the vision of everyone starting from the top down. Go Nets!!!

Wait, you mean 2001 Kenyon Martin, not 2010 Martin, right?

@Gert
We have a young forward named Derrick Favors...Why would we get another young forward and trade our starting point guard away? Explain this to me...

The Nets should trade D. Harris for a young forward, let Farmar start and resign Quinn as his backup. If you're committing to rebuilding, really commit.

AK-47 is a lot more SF than PF , but getting Millsap makes the most sense at his asking price , age , and years left on his contract.

I know the Nets are trying to save some cap space money for future events, but I have the feeling this group of Proky, King and Johnson will not be patient for long. Don't be surprised if AK-47 is in the starting line-up come opening day. The "November" surprise?

Kirilenko played for CSKA Moscow (Proky's old team), and I could see him making a push there since I believe he only has one year left on his contract. Kirilenko is also a superior defender. It would probably be a favorable marketing move in Russia.

no one on this list would make since what so ever. on to the next one. hey tha's a Jay Z song
