Daily Link: Nets Waive May

After suffering a stress fracture in his foot during a workout, the Nets have decided to part ways with PF Sean May, the team announced yesterday. After the acquisition of Troy Murphy, May was a longshot to make the team anyway, but it’s disappointing to see he couldn’t even get the chance to prove himself during the preseason:

Nets general manager Billy King explained that the team just couldn’t wait on the 25-year-old power forward: “The injury has a four- to eight-week rehab period,” King said, “which would not provide Sean a legitimate chance to make our team.”

In college at NC he was a beast, and as soon as the Nets got him I was hopeful he would stay healthy. His father was a hell of a ball player.

I agree that I want May to recover and have a good career, but unfortunately he has had a lot of problems so far with his career and I kind of expected an injury to pop up and sideline him for the year.

Nets are clearing roster space for somebody. I would think another veteran will probably be added. We have so many youngsters already. Hope May heals soon and gets to play in NBA this year.He sounds like a good guy, with issues.

He was a non-guaranteed camp invite. His roster spot was never guaranteed, therefore there was no reason to clear the spot. He got hurt, and won't make it back for camp so the Nets essentially cut him before camp started.

Not a good start for the Nets. Like most people here I wasn't impressed by the signing given Mays' injury prone history, however I still wished him success. Good Luck Sean. Now I hope they stop looking to sign extreme projects or longshots. Proven talent is needed on this team.
